Walk Racing's effort around the Red Bull Ring in the World Sport Series

Round seven of the GPVWC World Sports Series, featured the Austrian round on the very fast, low down force Red Bull Ring.

With recent string of bad luck we were looking to brake that pattern and have a very successful round, to extend our lead in both championships

Each race had 15 laps of heavy battling and with Risto on 45kg and Cameron with brake pedal problems it was going to be a hard event for us.

Qualifying Result
8th Risto Kappet
11th Cameron Brewster

Lining up a solid 6th on the grid, Risto said after qualifying, ?45kg was really harsh on this track with lots of braking and accelerating zones. I did not get a good lap but P8 was good enough for my standards with weight. ".

Race 1 Result
7th Risto Kappet
9th Cameron Brewster

7th place with maximum success ballast , Kappet commented, "Had a long fight with both the Draig guys, good fights with Lepassar but had Riffel bumping me allot in the first laps so was driving a slightly damaged car. In the end managed P7 which is almost ideal, only one spot from the highest points you can get to not get weight for R2 so it was looking great.".

Race 2 Result
10th Cameron Brewster
15th Risto Kappet

Finishing 15th, Risto said, "Had a good start and was gaining positions but into T3 I squeezed onto someone, got a tap, got sandwiched a bit and then could not control my car and went into the wall losing my bonnet and splitter. It could have been possible to retake some good points as people were still stacked and although you are slower without splitter, you gain a few km/h of top speed. But on lap 2 i was following a train of cars when someone was parked totally sideways on the exit of last turn, I could not see him so i T-boned the other car and got total right side suspension damage, making the car about 3 seconds a lap slower and extremely hard to drive.
Then it was a big struggle on the border of points positions, in the end i got P15".

Championship Standings
1st Risto Kappet 158pts
7th Cameron Brewster 92pts

With Walk Racing leading the teams championship with a 11point advantage, with 250points!

We spoke to our drivers after the race,
Championship leader, Risto Kappet - "In general extremely disappointed and very sad to throw away another chance to win R2 in a row. I must stop making these mistakes and always be on top of R2s if i ever want a chance of the title. Now unfortunately the points table is very close and I?m still on 45kg so it will be very hard, but i am not giving up."

Team Boss Mr C - "What i was looking to be our strong point, midseason consistency , it seems that lady bad luck thinks differently and we really need to get our focus back and with 3 rounds to go do what we do best, Walk away from the field! i am sure we can and we will!"

Round 8 is in two weeks? time from Hungaroring in Hungary, another fast track! Be prepared.
