Florian Geier will race for Nordsjoen Racing for the final time as he takes to the track in Abu Dhabi, bringing to an end three years with the Norwegian outfit, the team stated.
Geier made his Superleague debut with the team in 2014, a one-off appearance on loan from CSG Racing, before being promoted to a race drive position for 2015. After a year with Agustin Canapino, he was flanked by long-time associate David Fidock, going on to form one of the most solid partnership in the championship.

"We thank Florian for his incredible contribution to Nordsjoen," said Team Principal, Will Ponissi. "In three full seasons, he has written some of the most memorable pages of our history and we are proud to have had him with us."

Geier competed for Nordsjoen in 53 races, with three wins and 12 podiums to help the team to the 2016 Constructors' Championship.

"After three seasons with the team, this still feels like a dream. I may not have reached my ultimate goal of a Drivers' Championship, but I spent these years with great people who share my passion," said Geier.

"I came to Nordsjoen as a kid nobody knew in Superleague and I worked hard and flat out to repay them of their trust and bring the team back to the top."

With the German driver set to make his final outing in the familiar blue, white and orange in Abu Dhabi, the team is keeping tight-lipped on the identity of its new driver for 2018.

"There's still time for negotiations and I don't expect any announcement to take place before GPVWC Day," stated Ponissi. "We still have one race to focus on as a team before we wish Florian the best of luck for his future adventures. Any team is lucky to have such a hard worker."

Geier had plenty of words of goodbye for his teammates.

"Nordsjoen will always be the name that gave me a home and I want to thank Will, David, and [test driver David Jundt] DJ. It will be emotional in Abu Dhabi - I truly experienced the best time in my career and whoever takes my spot should know what an honour it is to be here."
